How is it possible to have suspicious accounts among my followers if I have never bought fake followers?

Suspicious accounts are Instagram bots, stolen accounts, abandoned accounts and people who use specific tools to artificially boost their accounts' followers, likes, and comments number.

It's ok to have some suspicious accounts among your followers. Some might lost their credentials or got tired from social media. Others represent commerical Instagram accounts (e-commerce or businesses) who try to promote their page and get more customers by using follow/unfollow method. All of them come organically.

Your goal is to keep the level of suspicious accounts among your audience as low as possible. How to? Simply check the Audience Authenticity section in SOMO report on a regular basis. This metric gives you a warning sign if the number of suspicious account is getting high or if you are doing just fine.
